Few nights ago, I attended them 'Rotary' ko meeting! I am not in them Rotary, Lions Shions club slub but 'Free Snacks' ko laagi bhaye pani.. invitation aye pachi ani muh pani tyehi taal ko tuh ho ni!
Heheh... just kidding, one of my seniors asked me to attend the meeting so that I could meet them 'Everest Ladies' , hear them talk about their experiences and figure out how I could help them rey!
I am not good at anything except... organizing events see-vents for my social organization(s) and other fund raising karyakaram haroo! It's always fun to plan them events, and beg people to buy them tickets sickets... because we are Nepalese... we can spend Rs 1,000 in Thamel drinking Carlsberg and so-called Aussie Wine Swine but no money to help our own Daju-bhais, Didi-bahinis ni!
May 22-24 2008 ma hamra 9 bahini haroo lay 'Sagarmaatha' climb garnoo bhayo! And now they are planning to climb all them highest mountains in all them continents rey!
The Rotary meeting was boring... as usual... them medical camps , looga sooga distribution stuff and then them 'Presentation' started .... Shailee Basnet (coordinator!) was great!
Few Facts & Figures about 'Everest Women 7 Summits Eco-Action(EW7SEA)'
1. Sagarmaatha Climb garnuh .. 1 corore Rupees kharcha bhayo rey! Thanks to our Nepali Government for waiving them 'Royalty Fee See' but them climbing gear sear tuh babaal expensive hoo-do rahecha.. ani 'Oxygen Tanks Sank' haroo chahi only can buy in Dollars rey... not Rupees!
2. They come from all over the country, different castes, religion etiyaadi! The youngest was only 17. You Go Girl! When I was 17, I was ... I have no idea what I did when I was 17 ... hehe! And the oldest was like 33 rey! You Go Woman!
3. Uni haroo ko total budget to climb all them 'highest' 7 mountains in every continent is around 1.3 million US$ rey! But Russia ruh Australia ma chahi basney, khaney, ghoomnay kharcha uta tiruh ko kuireys, NRNs haroo lay help garyo rey!
4. The most expensive expedition will be 'Antarctica ' ma rey... each person ko cost nai more than $40,000 ...rey! 500K tuh yes ma nai jaaney rahecha!
5. The presentation was fun and informative but the main focus was on 'Hard Work, Team-Work etiyaadi' ... Yes.. finally I found the formula for success.. that is... work hard and have a good team and then everything is possible! Yes!
Aakhir jay garnaw pani paisa nai chaa-hincha and they still need to raise like 700,000 US$ ... to finish their 'climb all' project rey!
They also do school tours and other 'educational tours' around the country and they have visited nearly every Embassies, INGOs, so-called 'Corporate Houses' but the fund sund chahi ali problem nai cha rey!
Before they climbed 'Sagarmaatha' ... them so-called potential donors would say 'You are so young girls, what would your parents say?" .... "Can you really do it... you might die... lose your fingers?" etiyaadi!
They have also climbed them mountains in Australia and Russia and their next trip is to Africa (Jun-Jul 2011) to climb Mt. Kill-Man-Jaaro or something like that... didn't know Australia had mountains... I only they thought they had Kangaroos and Crocodile Dundee and of course that crazy man, Late Steve Irwin!
And now after climbing three mountains, them potential donors say (rey!) ... "You did it.. Great.. Good Job.. why do you still need funds?"
Then ... I started doing them math sath... We need 700,000 people to donate $1 .. but of course it's tough to find 700,000 people ni! Well, there are few friends of mine who have like 2,000 facebook friends.. how the @#$! do you know ... lke 2,000 people! I know only 20 .. hehe!
If 7,000 contribute $10 (every month!) then the problem is solved! Them women plan to finish their 'Seven Summits' tour by 2012 rey!
And then I also visited their website. It's simple, nice, informative but not updated and '9' great women ko background, bio sio cha ali poogay-naw! Maybe, Shailee Basnet should re-vamp the website since she also is a journalist and is recently engaged to the website ko Amrikan web-developer ko dai ho ki bhai... heheh!
And please put some 'Estimated Budget saw-jet' ni... and ali interactive banau-noo paryo....! Nepal ma feri tyehi ho.. .fund raising garda problem chahi .. there will always be people who are not only skeptical but will just point their 'manicured' fingers at you and say "What's in it for you?" and "Yes lay pani khol-tee ma halyo hola ni...!"
I am planning to visit their office saw-fish next week... hopefully I can help as well! Now, I need to convice my NRN friends (both Nepal mai Resident Nepali and Non-Resident Nepali as well!) .. aayeee.. I also forgot.. Non-Responsive Nepali haroo lai pani convince garoom tuh!
So, my next project is to raise 700,000 Amriki dollars for these ladies! Now I have to convince 7,000 Nepalis (Yes , We Can Do it!)... to give Rs 700 every month ... for a year so that them ladies will climb all them 'Seven Summits' and make History ... and hopefully our Nepalese Men will start at least climbing PulChowki now and then hola ni!
Then I went back to my math-sath problem... How do I convince 7,000 people to pitch in ... when I can't convince 7 people to join me in my 'tole ko ' sar-safaai karykaram?.. heheh!
