Hello... Where's my Change?

The Doom-Ass-Tick Airport Tax is Rs 169.50! We should probably give a 'National' award to the guy who came up with this figure! Must be a Masters Degree holder from TU who joined the civil service in the 80s.... who came down to the Valley from Gulmi and probably has a a big house in Sanepa, 10-20 ropanis of land in Bhaisipaati and kids studying abroad (thanks to government scholarships) and what not!

Nothing wrong with coming from Gulmi, or having a big house or sending your smart kids to school abroad .... in my next life, I want to be born as a sarkaari karmachaari! Ani tuh mojja hai mojja (tyo bollywood ko geet cha ni!)

What? I feel like I am some kind of a FBI ko profiler... heheh, Amrika ma chahi Serial Killer, Terrorist haroo ko profile banau-nchan ... yeha haami chahi hamro Civil (not)Servants haroo ko profile banau-dai basey hooncha!

Anyways, let's get back to our Domestic aka Doom-Ass-Tick Airport! The place looks like a local bus park! The guy who collects them Airport-Tax has nothing to do except stay in his stall and day-dream about how much 50 paisa he can collect during the day and how to distribute it to the Hakims to the Peons!

Yes, these sons of cucumbers never give us our change back! I usually fly to Bhairawhawa (work related + relatives) and Pokhara (no work but lotsa relatives!). I always ask for my change and the guy always replies 'Haaahahahaa... ahiley ko jawana ma pani 50 paisa hooncha ruh?'

I am not worried about the Rs169.50 abbreviated (?) tax invoice and VAT included naatak! We all know where that Rs 169.50 goes... it's not used for airport ko renovation, runway ko mar-mut or to make our skies safer. It goes to .. you know where so let's not waste our time figuring out how many Hakims and our netas have gotten fatter from our airport taxes!

But, I really want to know where that 50 paisa goes. I do not work for the Civil Aviation or Yeti Airlines or Nepal Tourism Board or the local Maoist Union (Airport Porters Wallah) ..so I have no idea how many people fly the domestic airlines per day.

So, let's come up with some numbers. Although I hear there are more than 30-40 domestic flights per day, let's say we have like 400 people paying the Doom-Ass-Tick Airport Tax Per day! That's like 200 Rupees per day, and somewhere around 6,000 Rupees per month and Rs 72,000 per year! (Yo chahi government estimate maaney hooncha... tyo bhanda maathi chahi sabai Goji Soji ma haalney tuh ho ni!)

Kehi nabhaye pani, 4-5 wata Khasi tuh Aaa-woo-ney rahecha ni! Lau thikkai cha.. bichara haroo, hamro public servants lai pani tuh Dashain Tihar ma ramailo garney paryo ni... So, Happy Tihar to our Doom-Ass-Tick Airport staff and please enjoy them big 50 paisa khasi-z!
